Yard Mastery Prodiamine - Now available in 18lb bags (new) that cover up to 6,000 sq ft AND 45 lb bags that cover up to 15,000 sq ft.
If you have used our granular Prodiamine in the past, you may notice the bag is different. This is a new look from a new supplier. It's the same active ingredient, Prodiamine, and the spreader settings are the same, too. By changing suppliers, we are now able to offer not only the value of a 45lb bag but the option for smaller lawns of an 18lb bag.
Yard Mastery 0-0-7 Prodiamine is a granular pre-emergent designed to stop weeds in the lawn, such as crabgrass, poa annua, bittercress, chickweed, and henbit.
- One 45 lb bag covers 15,000 sq ft at the rate of 3 lbs/1,000 sq ft
- One 18 lb bag covers 6,000 sq ft at the rate of 3 lbs/1,000 sq ft
- .37% Prodiamine is the active ingredient
- Great for preventing crabgrass, poa annua (annual bluegrass), and more
Product Description:
Most DIYers use this product in spring to stop crabgrass. Crabgrass is an annual grassy weed that germinates in spring, grows lime green and large during summer, then towards the later fall, drops seeds. The following spring, the process starts all over again. This is why crabgrass is called an “annual” grassy weed. The good news is that crabgrass can be stopped very effectively using this product, which is formulated for use in DIY spreaders. It’s the same active ingredient the pros use.
The best time to apply Prodiamine is in the spring or fall, as soil temperatures are between 55F to 70F. Each application of 3 lbs/1,000 sq ft provides about 3 months of pre-emergence protection.
Our recommendation for both cool and warm-season lawns is 2 applications in spring if the target is crabgrass.
Application Information:
DO NOT use Prodiamine if you are seeding or reseeding, as it will keep your seed from germinating.

Using the appropriate plugging tool, create the hole for the grass plug.
- 38 cell plug trays use the ProPlugger planting tool to create the hole. Just step on the the plugger to a depth of 2", twist and pull out the plug of soil.
- 50 cell plug trays use the Drill Auger to create the hole. Just attach your auger to any drill and use it to create a 2" deep hole.
Next, remove the plug from the grow tray. The root ball can be scored and/or dipped into Soil Moist root dip prior to planting. Place the plug into the hole you created and step on it to ensure that there are no air pockets in the soil.
